Both Six Sigma and Lean have a defined series of steps or phases. Although the steps or phases are different for each methodology, there is a common underlying philosophy; namely, processes can be analyzed and systematically improved on a continuous basis.

This course will provide participants with a solid foundation for analyzing Lean and Six Sigma projects. The class covers topics such as designing and optimizing design of experiments, calculating experimental power, and determining experimental aliasing and blocking. The opportunity to learn from peers is realized through team exercises, case studies, and class presentations that demonstrate the tools and concepts taught in this course.

Learning Objectives

Using Minitab, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the purpose and benefit of performing DOE.
  • Develop, perform, and optimize a designed experiment.
  • Calculate and interpret a DOE power factor.
  • Explain DOE aliasing, blocking, and resolution.

Prerequisites

Successful completion of the Six Sigma Lean Green Belt program or consent of instructor. Ideally, students would have completed a course in Descriptive Statistics as well as Inferential Statistics covering topics such as statistical significance, Type 1/Type 2 Error, and Probability concepts.
